for the Waukegan folks… how much north wind makes you start thinking twice about the entrance? I have come in with some chop but nothing I would call ugly yet. curious where people draw the line.

Depends a lot on wave period for me. 18 knots with a long easy swell is one thing, short steep stuff is another. I usually make the decision before I am tired and committed to getting home.

This is one of the things I am still learning to judge. Do you guys look mostly at the buoy wave height or just build that feel from being out there? The numbers dont always match what it looks like to me yet.
